Skincare Q+A

Q: How do I go from summer skin routine to fall/winter?

A: I just did a whole post on this right here but a few things to do are amp up exfoliation, up your moisturizer, and keep wearing SPF

Q: What’s a good product to freshen up midday?

A: 100 percent recommend a facial spray for a midday pick-me-up. The Visibly Moist toner is the best, it has lavender and rose and smells and feels amazing.

Q: How do I get rid of blackheads?

A: I have a post about getting rid of blackheads here and here.

But here are some more tips:

+ exfoliate regularly whether it be with a scrub or an AHA or BHA (do this once or twice a week)

+ use an oil-free moisturizer

+ get some extractions done at your next facial

+ I also talk about exfoliation here and here.

Q: Tell me all about exfoliators

A: physical vs chemical

physical

A physical scrub is a scrub like Skin Resource.MD’s crystal clarity. It is gritty but gentle and removes all dead skin cells and buildup to reveal your healthy glowing, fresh skin.

chemical

Basically, there are 2 chemical exfoliators.

+ AHA, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (Glycolic Acid)

best for damaged skin or aging skin

+ BHA, Beta Hydroxy Acid (Salicylic Acid)

best for acne-prone skin or oily skin

there are products with AHA’s and BHA’s, mainly peels, scrubs, lotions or toners

Q: What are your top 3 skin must-haves

A: cleanser, serum, moisturizer

I would have to pick my Total Facial Cleansing Gel, Total Antioxidant Serum, and Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer with SPF.

Q: What’s the best serum

A: I can’t pick just one, I have 2 favorites. The Skin Resource Hyaluronic Serum and Total Antioxidant Serum are hands down the two best serums. But I recommend both a hyaluronic acid and a vitamin C serum.
