Stay Hydrated with Our Moisture Boosting Summer Smoothie Recipe

National Hydration Day takes place on June 23 each year, but the truth is that every day should be hydration day. Did you know that your body is made of up to 60% water? That's why staying hydrated is so important for your health.

In the hot summer months, it is more important than ever to give your body the hydration it needs. The average adult male needs to consume about 3 liters of water per day while an adult female requires approximately 2.2 liters of water each day. But don't worry! You don't have to carry a giant water jug everywhere you go to ensure you stay properly hydrated. Some of the water your body needs each day is digested through the food you eat, or better yet, through a healthy fruit smoothie.

Inspired by our Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum, which locks in moisture for youthful, glowing skin, we've created this Moisture Boosting Summer Smoothie Recipe. This delicious fruit smoothie is a tasty way to cool off and rehydrate this summer. While we've given you some suggestions below the recipe for ways to customize it to suit your taste, we recommend keeping the three key ingredients of strawberries, blueberries, and kiwis. Each fruit is packed full of antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins, providing amazing health benefits.

Moisture Boosting Summer Smoothie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 kiwi, peeled and sliced
  • 1 banana, chopped
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon of baobab powder

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender.
  • Blend on high until smooth.

This hydrating smoothie recipe is easy to adjust to your taste preferences and what you have on hand. For some blenders, large chunks of frozen fruit like strawberries may be too much to handle, so if necessary, cut into smaller pieces or thaw the strawberries for a few minutes before blending. You can also substitute fresh strawberries and other fruit, but you may find it necessary to add ice when using fresh fruit instead of frozen fruit.

Want to add more vitamins and fiber to your diet? Toss in some fresh spinach, carrots, or kale. The color of your smoothie may change, but small amounts of any of these vegetables should not noticeably alter the flavor of your smoothie. Likewise, if you want to add some extra protein and healthy fats to make your smoothie more of a meal, but don't have any baobab powder on hand, you can add a tablespoon of ground flax or chia seeds instead.

Don't have any orange juice or prefer another flavor? You can substitute pretty much any fruit juice from apple juice to cranberry juice. If you want a creamier, more milkshake-like consistency, try using soy milk or almond milk instead of juice.

Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum

The inspiration for our Moisture Boosting Summer Smoothie Recipe is our dermatologist-formulated anti-aging skin care product, Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum. This product creates a protective barrier on your skin which locks in moisture, giving your skin a healthy, youthful appearance.

A key ingredient of this product is Hyaluronic Acid, also known as a "Smart Nutrient" because it works hard to stabilize and safeguard every aspect of your skin. Just like strawberries, blueberries, and kiwis provide antioxidants to the rest of your body, Hyaluronic Acid offers antioxidant defense against the daily environmental damage our skin suffers from sun exposure and harsh ingredients. We recommend using Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum twice a day after cleansing with the Total Facial Cleansing Gel.

Stay youthful. Stay radiant. Stay hydrated!
